Bio: Lena Gamble’s father was killed in an industrial accident in Denver, Colorado. When she and her brother David became wards of the state, they escaped to California. Living out of their father’s car, they did whatever they had to do to survive. Eventually they could afford a one-room apartment. David studied guitar, while Lena waited tables and went to the Police Academy. Both became successful and moved into a small house atop Hollywood Hills. One night while working as a cop in Hollywood, Lena came upon a young man who had been gunned down in his car. When she peered inside with her flashlight, she realized to her horror that it was her brother, David. Lena Gamble is now an orphan, haunted by her past. An LAPD cop who graduated to narcotics, did well, and has just been promoted to the elite Robbery-Homicide Division, where she awaits her first murder case with her new partner, a detective with decades of experience whom she admires, Hank Novak.
