Because thrillers feed on the hero being vulnerable. Matt Jones might be a detective, but he’s working his very first year as a homicide detective. He doesn’t have experience to fall back on. He’s in jeopardy and needs to survive. Matt’s just like us, only tossed into the very dangerous world of I'M ALL BETTER NOW: a Hollywood power couple brutally murdered in their Brentwood mansion; a teenage influencer dead in the Pacific; a big tech billionaire trying to bury the truth with gobs of free money. That’s why age matters. And that might be another reason why people seem to be so fascinated by him. Matt Jones is a good guy in a great deal of trouble.
